Anyone who has been in love could tell you this
So tell me how it is that I can give my heart to you and yours to me
Just for us to throw our hearts back at each other, walk away, and act as if it never was

How can it work that way?
Do I ever cross your mind?

Or the honest to God truth?
All the promises, broken
All the plans, no more
All the memories, painful but still there
